“FOR THE LOVE OF CHEESE” 2013 COMING TO METROPOLITAN MARKET

Curd this be love? September 11-October 7

For Immediate Release
August 29, 2013

Seattle—August 29, 2013—The annual “For the Love of Cheese” event is back September 11 to October 7, and like a strong cheddar, only gets better with age. Metropolitan Market brings this month-long festival of cheese events that will introduce and educate guests on artisan, specialty, hand-made and farmstead cheese produced locally and globally.

Attend one of the many tastings of wine, beer or cider pairing events for a multi-sensory experience with cheese; meet and talk with local and national cheesemakers; watch and sample as cheese is sculpted into art you can eat. Come by one of our culinary kiosks to try an array of artisan cheeses and pick up the “For the Love of Cheese” event schedule. There are over 20 events to choose from. For the latest updates, visit www.metropolitan-market.com/events.

Key events include:

A Metropolitan Market exclusive – Rhonda Gothberg has been making exquisite farmstead goat cheeses and operating from what is one of the tiniest of Washington’s Grade A micro-dairies for well over a decade. Milking only twenty goats, her supply of cheeses is very limited and highly prized. Dates: 9/20, 4-7 – Admiral, 9/21, 12-4 – Magnolia.

Cheese Carving with Sarah Nep
Come watch Sarah Nep sculpt hundreds of pounds of cheese into art you can eat. Be awed, then sample Sarah's work. Dates: 9/19, 11-5 – Kirkland, 9/20, 11-5 – Magnolia, 9/21, 10-4 – Uptown-Queen Anne.

Guess the Weight; Win a $50 Gift Card
Metropolitan Market is bringing in a large, mystery weight piece of BelGioioso Aged Sharp Provolone, and one person at each store will win a $50 gift card to Metropolitan Market for guessing the weight. The closest guess at each store wins the gift card. Winners will be announced October 9th.

Metropolitan Market has great things in store for Sand Point!  Starting in September, we are remodeling the store to make the store easier to shop, more pleasant to be in and adding a few great new features.   Due to minimal construction, Sand Point will not participate with demonstrations and visiting guest cheesemakers.
